Certain attacks miss when their ducked under or jumped over, while these maneuvers also give new attack options such as, for crouching players, an anti-air uppercut and a leg sweep capable of knocking down opponents.

Players who are hit with multiple attacks in quick succession have a high chance of becoming "dizzied". Visualized by a halo of stars around the fighter's head, dizzied opponents are stunned and cannot move or attack until they either receive another hit or "break out" of their dizzy state by tapping multiple buttons and moving the joystick around.

Using the joystick, players can also perform blocks known in Japanese version as "guards" by holding the joystick in either the Back position for standing blocks or Down-Back position for crouching blocks.

Grabs are performed by holding either Back or Forward on the joystick the direction choosing which way to throw the opponent and pressing Medium Punch or Heavy Punch while the opponent is very close and not jumping.

Along with a variety of normal attacks some of which are different depending on how close the opponent is , each fighter has a set of secret "special moves" performed by specific joystick and button combinations.

These techniques have special abilities such as throwing a projectile across the screen or hurling the fighters at their opponents and can deal more damage even slightly damaging blocked opponents, later known as "chip damage".

In some cases, fighters may receive double damage if hit during the execution of a special move. This doesn't apply universally--only some fighters and some moves lead to this vulnerability Blanka's rolling attack and Sagat's Tiger Uppercut to name a few.

Originally determined as a bug, players can "cancel" attack animations into other attacks, allowing players to chain several attacks and special moves into a "combo".

This technique was soon adapted as a standard feature of the fighting game franchise and was expanded throughout the Street Fighter series.

After defeating every three CPU opponents, players participate in a bonus stage for additional score. Each bonus stage has their own unique objective:.

Most console ports of the game and its updates replaced the third bonus stage with a large pyramid of bricks to destroy in a limited amount of time.

Each section of the pyramid is impacted by attacks and is destroyed after a certain amount. While it is usually performed by one player, a second player can join in resetting the stage to assist.

Players receive score per each hit on the objective, and both players receive a bonus score for successfully completing the objective.

The game features eight playable characters, all with their own unique set of special moves with the exception of Ken , who has the same special moves as Ryu and fight locales.

Both players can not pick the same character a restriction that was lifted after the game's first revision. Outside of the constant rehashes, the original Street Fighter II was ported to some consoles and computer systems in the 90s:.

SAGE Publications. Retrieved April 23, Business Week. Bloomberg — : Ryu is Ken's most formidable opponent.

He is fond of getting in close and throwing you across the screen. Use a crouching Forward and he'll jump towards you.

If you time it right, you can counterattack his jump kick with a Dragon Punch or a crouching Fierce. Blanka can really cause a lot of damage with only a few hits.

He has a weakness, though. He likes to show off his ability to electrocute opponents with a deadly shock. Go to the far left or right and do backflips and jump kicks.

Blanka will light up and then you can toast him with a Fireball or a crouching Roundhouse. When you are playing at level 7, Chun Li is one of the most aggressive attackers in the game.

Her biggest weakness is that she takes to the air far too often and becomes an easy target for Dragon Punches. The easiest way to defeat her is to get into the far left or right corner and wait for her to jump at you.

She will be totally vulnerable to a crouching Fierce or a Dragon Punch. If she gets too close, she will throw you. Use foot sweeps to divert her.

Dhatsim is one of the most intense adversaries that you'll meet. His concentration and patience make him an excellent fighter.

Your best bet is trying to connect a flying Fierce or Strong and then throwing him when he lands from the blow. The most devastating combo you can use on him is a flying Fierce and then a Fierce Dragon before you land and you'll get a double hit!

Guile is one of the toughest characters in the game to defeat. The easiest technique to master against him is to counter his Razor Kick with a jump kick as shown.

Use the top of the fence as a guide to place your kick. Guile will be dizzy after three of these, then you can finish him off with a triple Dragon Punch Jab, Jab Dragon Punch.

Guile also likes to Razor Kick short Dragon Punches that are out of his reach. He is easily baited!

This extremely muscular Sumo wrestler is considered to be the strongest street fighter ever.

His weakness is a lack of speed and limited agility. You can get him under your control by using a pattern.

Use a crouching Forward as Honda is coming towards you. He'll block it. When he jumps towards you, do a crouching Fierce, or to cause some real damage, a Jab Dragon Punch will work well.

Zangief is a very strong opponent and has excellent reach. Never try to throw him unless he is dizzy or he will counter throw and cause massive damage to you.

The easiest way to get rid of him is to jump straight up and use jumping Roundhouse kicks when he gets in close. If he jumps at you, this maneuver will still work and you can do even more damage if you launch a Fierce Fireball before he lands.

Be sure to stay out of his reach. In the arcades, there is always a crowd around the Street Fighter II machine. As we reported last month, Capcom U.

More on the super hot soft next month! Street Fighter II hits the streets packed with the closest arcade-to-home translations ever seen.

Here are some of the features of the home version, and some comparisons between it and the arcade. In the Option Mode you can customize the game to suit your needs.

The level of difficulty for the computer can be adjusted from and the time limit can be turned off. Because no two garners were created equal there is a button configuration option.

There is also a sound and music test which can be listened to in stereo or mono. A classic match-up between Ryu and Ken.

The parallax scrolling on the floor is smooth throughout; however, the clouds do not parallax scroll like in the arcade.

The signs break when you throw your opponent into them, just like the arcade version. Here you can see Honda keeping Ken away with a lightning hand special attack.

This stage has remained the same as the arcade, except the water does not overflow from the bath during the game.

Instead, you will see the water drip from the ceiling onto the ground. Blanka's stage is still one of the most graphically intense levels in the game.

As reported by eGaming Review on Friday, May 29, the decision follows "internal concerns" related to responsible gambling issues and the players' staking behaviour.

These would appear to be connected to the particular staking mechanics NetEnt included in the game, with bet sizes changing as players get close to bonus rounds.

At the time of publishing the article, the new Street Fighter online game is still available on the NetEnt official website, where players can try it in a free demo version.

As of Friday morning, however, the game is no longer listed at any of the top online casino sites that offer NetEnt slots.

The leaked internal e-mail message posted below, and a statement from NetEnt's Head of Communication Victor Melander confirm the decision to take the game temporarily offline.

The next steps — which include the possibility of a new release — will be announced after the conclusion of an internal investigation.
